Polyurethane or PVC?

Varieties of protective or anti-gravity film differ in structure and color, but are made of two materials – PVC or polyurethane. The first option is essentially plastic with all its pros and cons. It has a relatively low strength, serves no more than a year and protects the surface of the car only from minor damage.

PVC film can protect not only the paintwork, but also the interior of the car. The algorithm of working with the material is the same as when pasting the body – it is painted on a plotter using patterns for the car salon, after that, they are glued to the surface. This is a convenient and inexpensive way to protect the dashboard and other parts from scratches, chips and other mechanical damage.

The second version of the anti-gravity film is made of polyurethane – its characteristics are closest to rubber. Such a protection tool is more reliable and durable than PVC, and can last at least 10 years. It protects not only from small scratches or chips, but also from more serious troubles like large stones. The only disadvantage of polyurethane is the high cost – pasting the machine with such a film will cost 2-3 times more expensive than in the case of PVC.

It is not difficult to distinguish one material from another. Polyurethane is denser – its thickness is 150-300 microns versus 135 microns for PVC. To understand what material was used to make the film, you need to take a small piece and try to break it. PVC will tear very quickly, and polyurethane will simply stretch, as it is extremely difficult to damage it.
