Spoilers and wings: what functions do they perform

To perform this operation efficiently, you need to order electronic patterns for the car interior.

Types and purpose of spoilers

When the car is moving at high speed, air turbulence occurs at the front and rear of the body. Turbulent air flows create a lifting force acting on the body of the car. This reduces the adhesion of the wheels to the road surface and worsens the handling of the vehicle. To correct the situation and turn turbulent air flows into laminar, special body kit elements – spoilers - are installed on the car body.

Most often, spoilers are installed on the lower part of the bumper, on the roof of the car or trunk. Unlike the rear wings, the spoilers are attached close to the body. The installation of an aerodynamic body kit can be carried out using metal fasteners or glue.

Purpose of the wing

The essence of the work of the wing is reflected in its name. Its aerodynamic profile is really an inverted wing. When the incoming air flows around this wing, a vertical force arises, tending to press the car to the road. The faster the car moves, the more force the wing creates. The rear wings are mounted on the trunk or the rear part of the roof of the body. Therefore, this body kit element mainly improves the grip of the rear wheels.

Unlike the spoiler, the wing is installed at some distance from the body. The effectiveness of its work largely depends on the so-called angle of attack. In order to choose the optimal position of the aerodynamic element, the fasteners are equipped with adjustment elements.

It should be noted that the use of an anti-wing is not without certain drawbacks. When the car is fully loaded, it creates an excessive load on the rear wheels. In addition, the wing increases the drag of the car.
