Why it is not necessary to increase the size of patterns in an electronic file

Possible consequences of adjusting electronic patterns

By increasing the size of the pattern in the file, you risk changing the dimensions of not only the problem element, but also the rest. This situation usually occurs when a group of elements in the electronic pattern is stored as a single object. As a result, all the pieces of film prepared on the plotter, except one, are too large, creating the need to cut off excess material at the edges manually. Unskilled work with a cutting knife, in turn, often leads to the appearance of curvature of the lines along the contour of the material.

If you decide to cut the enlarged pieces, trying them on the pasted surface, you risk damaging the rubber sealing gaskets and the body paintwork with the blade. In addition, attempts to eliminate the consequences of increasing patterns by cutting the film often end up removing more material than necessary. Because of this, you will have to incur additional costs for the purchase of the film.

By increasing the patterns in an electronic file, you risk taking the pattern beyond the boundaries of the format, as a result of which some pieces of film will be truncated after cutting on the plotter. Therefore, before uploading an electronic file of patterns for a car bumper
to the plotter's memory, you should always check the location of the pattern layout relative to the edges of the cutting area in the graphic editor.

When you try to increase the individual elements of the pattern by stretching the drawing with the cursor, changes occur only in two dimensions, without taking into account the relief of the pasted parts. As a result, the selected margin for the length/width of the pattern is often not enough, and during the fitting, a discrepancy between the contours of the piece of film and the car part being pasted is found.
